National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA) 2024 NE Ohio Walk
This year, our own Katelyn Ferro took on a larger role by helping to plan and coordinate the National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA) walk in Northeast Ohio. Kate has been with The Hull Institute for eight years, working as a dietitian specializing in eating disorders, with a special focus on supporting teen athletes. The 2024 NEDA walk was held on October 5th at the Akron Zoo, marking a new location that encouraged participation from individuals, families, and organizations in the Akron area.
NEDA is currently focused on building a strong sense of community among those affected by eating disorders and supporting individuals on their recovery journeys. The organization also funds research to develop more innovative and effective treatments for eating disorders.
Highlights from this year’s walk included an inspiring recovery story shared by an adolescent and her mother, along with activities like gentle chair yoga, an empowering mirror activity, bracelet making, coloring for all ages, and a stroll through the beautiful Akron Zoo.
The Hull Institute was honored to host a table and form a dedicated walk team in support of NEDA’s vital mission. Through generous contributions, we raised $625, contributing to the Cleveland NEDA Walk’s impressive total of $7,175 for this year. Special recognition went to Abbey Uline as the top individual fundraiser, with Akron Children’s Hospital as the top fundraising team, showcasing the community’s commitment to supporting recovery and raising awareness for eating disorders.
